We are almost there

We can’t run from the fact that TOIL ‘N’ MOIL is a part of a dirty fashion industry – but we try to stand out and make a difference.

“The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world just after the oil industry. And the environmental damage is increasing as the industry grows.”*

The fashion industry is damaging the environment, and it’s difficult to make clothes and garments without leaving a dirty footprint on the ground. In TOIL ‘N’ MOIL we experience difficulties with the industry in shape of buying zippers and buttons for our collection. We know, that both zippers and buttons are not a sustainable solution, but we also need long lasting products for our customers to be satisfied with.

When it comes to choosing buttons and zippers, we always look for good quality but also for products, that are not time bound. This means, that we need to compromise on the sustainability to be able to offer a piece of clothes with increased lifetime value.

Today we also experience problems with recycling our old garments. It is difficult – almost impossible – to recycle mixed fabrics. As you maybe have read in our blog post “What is it made from?” we love 100 % materials – why? It’s easier to recycle. But we also know, that it’s sometimes necessary to use elastane or other materials in the garment to increase the comfort of the specific style.

We hope, that the demand for sustainable materials will increase the selection of products. We know that we are not there yet, but we are aware of our flaws – are you?

*Sustain your style
